RB/LB next season
Been a while since I've been on here I mainly read but looking at the team this season it's where ALOT of games have been lost due to these 2 positions not been properly sorted, RB because of the owners and Creswell is a different player altogether compared to last season. I personally feel a bit sorry for Cresswell because of that injury in pre season so he started way behind and came into a shambles of a left hand side with payet missing his frogs back home. The thing that grates me is that we have a manager that got into the latter stages of the World Cup and had a very good career as a DEFENDER and our assistant manager is a legend of the club who was a DEFENDER, so why haven't they solved the problem of shipping goals, we've been so bad all season?! I really hope this is a 'transitional' year in terms of the new pitch and stadium because we are only going backwards on the pitch

Who would be your preferred right back and would you keep Cresswell?

I think we first need to get rid of Arthur and try get Flanagan in from Liverpool, he could do a job on either flank, then either Kieron or zabaleta would be good for me

These two positions are crucial to any teams performance throughout a season and why we've gone blind into this season with a bigger pitch than we're used to is a joke if you ask me

Anyway rant over ill now carry on with my evening

Time Byram had a decent run, think he would be fine if Bilic showed some confidence in him. Cresswell in a bad spot (but then he is playing as part of a crap defence) perhaps should be rested for a match or two and come back stronger.

Musuaku will be playing next game.

If this season has taught us anything it's don't sign injury proned players, so Flanagan 's a non starter, as he would be if we signed him.

Re: RB/LB next season
No offence beakham but I'm glad you aren't our manager. Flanagan is your answer?

Masuaku should actually be starting ahead of Cresswell at the moment, I have actually been very impressed with Arthur when I've seen him play (Seen every game barring West Brom away as I was on holiday).

Right back is definitely an issue though granted. I would give Byram till the end of season and see how he does then potentially get either an experienced RB in the summer or if Byram isn't up to it a better prospect, Iorfa maybe?

If we did lose Cresswell (I doubt it) Luke Shaw or Mendy would both be very ambitious but no harm in trying.

RB has to be the priority though, along with a striker who has a good injury free track record, minimum. Defoe? As I can't see them getting rid of both the sick note brothers (Andy and Sakho).

Cresswell and Masuaku are both fine for our LB spot. cress has been well out of form this season, then again so has most of the team, i wouldn't want to get shot of him. Masuaku looked good in the last game, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a few starts soon.

Re: RB/LB next season
I actually really like Byram & Creswell and think that with a good run in the team and a settled midfield in front of them, they would be very good. Whether they would be good enough for top 6 I'm not sure, but I'd say there's a good chance that Creswell may get a move to Liverpool at the end if the season anyway, so we may never know.

We need a top class goalkeeper to organise the defence (go all out for Hart), Fonte won't be first choice next season and will go down as a waste of money. We need to push on with a young pacey centre half next to Reid with Ogbonna & Fonte as back up.

One thing is for sure - a 20 goal a season striker would obviously be great, but it would improve us a hell of a lot more if we conceded 20 goals a season less.

Re: RB/LB next season
I have it on good authority that Arthur is not Masuaku's real first name. Don't know the correct spelling but is actually pronounced F*ck so they had to get him to sign as Arthur! You imagine the ref giving him is marching orders "F*ck, off"

If the SPIVS get an offer north of £20 million for Creswell. They will flog him in a shot.

Re: RB/LB next season
I like Cresswell, I think it's probably been a nightmare for him this season with so many different players up in front of him, especially as none of them have particularly given him much protection.

Like to see Byram given more of a chance, as the odd game won't help him improve, though I suppose it will depend on whether or not the next manager likes him, as otherwise that will be one of the first positions strengthened after a striker.

Let start building for the future with young up and coming players instead of the old age dross we have bought in of late. LB- Tierney from Celtic going to be absolutely top drawer and be relatively cheap or Luke Shaw or Nathan Ake if we were to splash a bit of cash. RB-Fonsu Mensah or Kyle Walker-Peters from Spurs reserves who is not going to displace his namesake anytime soon, both more in our price bracket

Going by the Dildos previous record Zabaleta on a free transfer looks nailed on.

I'd even stick my neck out and say I wouldn't be surprised if Cresswell is off in the summer and Masuaku steps in.

Agreed. He'd be a starter in 3/4's of the teams in the PL. No doubt.

He came to us with good pedigree. Had recorded 150 top flight games at such a young age, played 12 times in the CL. He is a very good player.

He started well for us I thought then got the injury which fucked him. So he's had to wait. And to be fair the way Cresswell is playing at the moment Musauka deserves his chance.

When he came on against Leicester I was very impressed. He looked so comfortable on the ball it was almost arrogance. He got at them. Looked sharp and looked positive. I agree that by then we had them on the rack so I appreciate it wasn't a huge test fro him defensively but I am sure he's capable.

I would also add that from where I was sitting he looks like he has bulked up. His shoulders looked enormous.

Cresswell needs to be taken out the firing line for a little while in my view. He looks drained. Against Leicester he was ineffective going forward. And to me just looked a little uncomfortable on the ball. I think his confidence may have taken a knock due to his alarming drop in form.

I'd give him a rest and see what Musuaku can do with a few weeks in the team. He looked mustard to me when he came on. Give him a go.

Re: RB/LB next season
If people really can't understand that Masuaku is probably one of the best back up left backs in the league, then we really have a problem. Give Byram every game for the rest of this season to claim his place.

Re: RB/LB next season
Well let's see if they go first, you can't have six full backs calling themselves 'first team', can you? Add three goalkeepers and that's nine players. Sakho, Carroll, Fletcher, Ayew, Antonio, Noble, Kouyate, Collins, Reid, Fonte, Snodgrass, Lanzini, Fernandes and Obiang fills the entire squad then and I'm sure I've left out loads of players already.

If you mean Dicks, he isn't our Assistant Manager, you imbecile.

Also, we have Cresswell, Byram, Arbeloa and Masuaku. If you don't think they should be here then I agree, but you can't just keep buying more players in the same position, we have a squad size limit.

Go and have a think about this idiotic thread and it's flaws, then ask a moderator to delete it for you.

He would be decent back up with a full pre season with us, he's a good young English player, I'd personally prefer we got Luke Shaw but doubt the 2 daves will fork out the tight bastards
